Logo design concepts
The design of logo is based on the shape of letter U (which may stand for Universiade, United, and University). It represents inspirational vigor of the young generation, bringing limitless hope as well as positive faith. The logo's rhythmic shapes and upward dancing motion reflect Taipei City's unending dedication to the pursuit of excellence. The five bright colors symbolize international harmony and friendship. Through hosting the 2017 Taipei Universiade, our world will become a better place!
Mascot design concepts
The powerful and courageous Formosan Black Bear (Ursus thibetanus formosanus) is chosen as the mascot for the event. Employing gradient colors from black to grayish tones with a gold medal representing victory. The mascot best symbolizes athletes' self-challenge and pursuit for excellence. The friendly mascot will serve as the cheerleader captain, transmitting messages of hope and joy to all Universiade participants while welcoming athletes from around the world to make themselves at home in Taipei.
